You may want to drop in to Il Fornaio located at the Hotel St. Claire. You can stop by for a pastry and espresso in the morning or catch lunch or dinner. Excellent, authentic Italian cuisine.

Hi Peter,
As a resident of the SJ area, I'd like to give you a few of my favs. Sushi: Japantown in SJ has a few decent sushi rest. One of my favs being Kazoo on Jackson. Most of the other ones are close by in the same neighborhood. Brew Pub& Grill: Gordon Biersch on San Fernando, downtown SJ;great beer and Calif. cuisine grilled fish, meats etc. Italian: Paolo's on W. San Carlos, excellent wine list, great service, interesting food. Hope these give you a few ideas! Sue

Peter,
I thought of another one:
Seafood: Scott's Seafood on Park Ave, downtown SJ, great view and fresh fish. Have fun! Sue

La Fondue is a funky sort of dining experience...it is a long meal because it involves cooking done at your table...it's a great place, in Saratoga on Big Basin Rd....i forget the number, but call up information and be sure to make resservations...it's pretty pricey
*about...$70+ for dinner for two*

btw, if my grammar makes you cringe, please excuse it... i'm atually on vacation from work and my brain isn't on grammar mode.
