Hi! I grew up in San Diego during the 70s and fondly remember going to various restaurants as a kid. I live in another state now and was curious if the following places are still around... Shakey's Pizza (in Kearny Mesa) - I seem to remember this Shakey's being east of Convoy street near the Fed-Mart (anyone remember *that* place?). Damn, I can still remember the stained glass, banjos, big stage and movie screen, restrooms with the crescent moons on the doors, vintage arcade games (Pong and Space War), and, of course, the awesome pizza. Straw Hat Pizza - another family favorite. this one was across the street from the Sports Arena. I remember there was a Chinese restaurant next door (I can still remember the Chinese lamps hanging outside). Picnic 'N' Chicken (in Clairemont Mesa) - this was my mom's personal fave. I believe it was on the east side of Genesee, near the intersection of Genesee and Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Aunt Emma's (in Chula Vista) - a favorite place for Saturday morning breakfast, sometimes hitting the Spring Valley swap meet afterwards. I remember always getting pigs-in-a-blanket. Thanks!

Haven't been there in ages. http://www.sdinsider.com/auto_docs/dining/33217.html How about Heavenly donuts after seeing a movie at the Frontier drive inn (with three screens)?
