Opinions on Le Foret in San Jose?

I've eaten there a few times and would not go to the trouble of driving out there again. I believe the place once was a very good restaurant, but the attitude now seems to be "take it or leave it". The layout is rural, rustic and very lovely: peaceful summer evenings in the past must have been a pleasant experience here.

I discussed Le Fortet at length with a former Le Fortet chef. Suffice it to say that it seems that the owners don't pay much attention any more, the present chef is incompetent and the dining room staff are indiffent.

Otherwise it's a nice place. :-)

BTW, the last time I had lunch at Papillon I was somewhat underwhelmed with the food quality. I really hope that they don't lose interest in keeping this lovely little restaurant upscale: I've enjoyed eating a reasonably high quality French bistro-style food there for over 20 years.

Has anyone else been to Papillon recently?

Cheers,
Phil

: No experience, but supposedly it's owned by the same people who own : Le Papillon (Saratoga and 280), which is the best restaurant I've found : in the Bay Area so far.
