There's a new place in town that is outstanding.
The name is Canta's Ristorante Italiano. Location is 101 and Trimble Road in San Jose.

My wife and I attended the grand opening last night. After being seated we were served bread and butter and a glass of wine. The wine was an Italian Merlot and it was so good that I'm planning to buy a case of the stuff.

They started us with three different kinds of pasta. This was more an appetizer than anything else, but it was tasty. Next came a green salad. Nothing special but it was okay. The main course we chose was Lamb Shank. It was served with some vegetables, and some kind of dumpling. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone. The sauce and meat were outstanding. This was by far the best lamb I've ever tasted. Dessert was a choice of some kind of Italian cake with liqueor or cheese cake. The cheese cake was 2 inches tall and was top flight.

Paolo Canta is the manager of this place and Sarti's which is attached. He is open for lunch and dinner. The phone number for reservations is (408)433-0555.

If you can still move after eating, you might want to check out the Karoeke (sp?) laser system at Sarti's.

Enjoy.
