Apparently this place has been around for about 7 months, but because its kind of easy to miss I just noticed it. It's located just north of Egghead Software at 25th on El Camino Real in SM and on the same side of the street in a string on nondescript storefronts. Since good BBQ is a rarity on the Penninsula, I'm happy to say that the Brisket of beef sandwich was pretty good. Nice smokey flavor and a tenderness indicative of long, slow cooking. Price 6 bucks, but the quantity is good. The standard sandwich comes with BBQ sauce but if you ask they will serve it on the side Texas style as they do the regular meals. The meat stood up well without sauce and, as with well BBQ'ed meat, I preferred it without the sauce. The sauce was ok, in my opinion, a little too ketchupy, not enough spicy, but it was pretty authentic for Texas style. Note: I like my sauce spicy, with a touch of molasses and chile powder but that's not necessarily Texas style. It comes with decent beans, with a good hint of chile powder and a tasty slared/white cabbage slaw with a sweet dressing. Also available were slabs, chicken, brisket meals, chili, and a few esoteric items like "Dead Man's Frito Pie" and "Salt Lick Soft Tacos". They also had Pecan Pie at $3.25 a slice (ouch), better to by a whole pie at $20 bucks a pop or make one yourself (it's easy -- eggs, caro syrup, and sugar). I'll go back, it's better than Armadillo Willy's. jd
