We had an excellent dinner at Mei Long last Friday. My companion picked me up after work (coming directly from work), while I had had time to go home and dress up for dancing. So he was in Engineer work-wear, jeans and a t-shirt, while I was dressed in nicer dancing clothes. We hadn't made any dinner plans, and as we were leaving my place I suggested turning up El Camino, and then (at the spur of the moment) suggested Mei Long. I forgot that my companion wasn't really dressed for this type of nice restaurant. Despite not being dressed in the sort of attire they prefer, we were treated with great courtesy. Service was without a single fault. Really. And the food was good too! We started with a shared order of bong bong chicken, then he had lamb with lotus crepes and I had chicken (with garlic and ginger) and jasmine rice. When he decided that he wasn't all that fond of the crepes (he thought they were "pasty" but I though they were delicious and I finished them off :-) they quickly and happily brought out some additional jasmine rice (no charge). We shared an apple torte for desert and I had a single glass of Chardonay. Everything was wonderful. The place was only about 1/2 full. I like it that way, in that I don't have to worry about making reservations, but I worry that they might not be doing enough business and might not stay around. Try it when you are in the Sunnyvale/Mountain View area. El Camino about 1/2 mile east of Hwy 85. jc
