For a casual lunch, I would suggest one of my favorite beach spots, Gladstone's For Fish. It's down the hill from the Getty, right on the beach with a big patio surrounded by flags that flap in the wind and keep the seagulls at bay. It's *very* casual, with picnic tables and peanuts (toss the shells on the ground). It's great if you like to sit in the sun and eat seafood to the sound of crashing waves. It can get crowded on a beautiful day, though so you might have to wait. Jamie

Besides the Getty and Gladstone's are almost a cliche. Just up PCH, go to Reel Inn. You pick out your fish and they'll grill right there. Listen carefully for your name, they all sound alike over the PA. With lunch you get potatoes and rice. The seafood salad is big, all the portions are generous. I have never had anything less than a delightful meal there. Plus it's not crowded. The natives go there, but it still is well-kept secret. Patrick's Roadhouse is OK. Way up the PCH is Neptune's Net (although I heard it was burned in the fires - the previous natural disaster in LA). Very casual, walk across PCH to watch surfers. BTW, the Getty has always been a favorite of mine. Stu L.
