We have not put our Sonoma site on-line yet, so I cann't help you with Sonoma.  However, if you are also considering Napa, we have tons of current event info as well as winery, lodging etc.  If you are interested,

Yes, try to get reservations on the Wine Train.  The food is great as is the wine and you'll be comfortably seeing the scenery without having to cope with crowds of weekend winery visitors out on the highway.
