SECRET PLACE....shhhhhh!

Tiny tyrolean inn tucked into the Redwood Forest, with a tiny trout pond where you either fish or scoop out your dinner for the restaurant to prepare. Little cabins nestled up in ferns and redwoods.... special stuff!! Called the Cazanoma Lodge. It's located up a little dirt road off Cazadero Road, a few miles up the side river feeding into the Russian River. Don't spread the word.

Another good place is the Madrona Manor in Healdsberg. A German chalet brought around the horn 100 + ago. Massive ornate furniture. Beds 4 feet off the ground. AND a 4 star restaurant. Don't let them book you into the carriage house however. The mansion takes reservations well in advance however.

The poster requested "not a multi-storied building." The guest rooms at the Calistoga Inn are upstairs. We decided to ge adventurous there one time when we were low on money and just wanted a little get away. The bed was miserably uncomfortable, and the room in general was way below standard - no comfortable lighting, etc. We would not go back.
