Just to be technical, I-10 does not go to San Diego. It goes
to LA; I-8 branches off to San Diego.

As for places to eat, that is desert, and the restaurants can
get away with murder. They subscribe to the motto, "Our best is
none too good." That much said, El Centro has every fast food
chain you can think of (and 2 of some). The best in El Centro
are the Barbara Worth Country Club, The restaurant (not the
coffee shop) in the Berners Motel on Imperial, and the Italian
food place (owned by the same people) on State (I think) St. To
put this into perspective, about the best you can get is a few
miles away in Calexico, the Hometown Buffet. There are some
interesting places in Alpine, but that is essentially already
        in San Diego.

Thanks for the tips. We're likely gonna stay at a Radisson (my daughter can get us a discount), so anything nearby would be good. As for type of food: Mexican, Deli, American, Thai, BBQ, Italian.
