Nonononononononono! This is not what you have to do this weekend....<g>

I've been following this thread and waiting to post the name of the restaurants I go to, which I can't recall, though of course they have Pho in them....however, if you can't wait, I'll tell you how to find them (not too hard and well worth it). These are the type that serve the noodles in a bowl of the tastiest beef broth, with that plate of basil, jalepenos, mint and been sprouts (and lime to squeeze, and the chili sauce and hoisin sauce, yes, yes, yes)....

Where to go to begin your adventure in Phine Pho Phood:

The intersection of Capital Expressway and Rte. 101. This should be easy for everyone to find...it's in the southern part of San Jose, just past the intersection of 101 and 280/680. As you get there consider that one section of Capital is "south" of 101, and the other is "north"...you are in luck, because there is Pho either way you go, although the easiest and best is to the "south" (though the place is not as nicely decorated or airconditioned at the "northern" one.

To the south: go on Capital from 101 and make your first U-turn. The Pho place (called something like No. 1 Beef Pho is on your right a short distance after you make the U-turn, and before you get back to 101....(help me, can anyone confirm the name?) It's in a little plaza, and the sign is clearly visible from Capital as you approach/pass the plaza.

To the north: go on Capital to the intersection with McLaughlin Ave (I think), where there is a plaze on your right. The plaza has a seafood restaurant (Chinese style), and also a Pho restaurant.

Both Pho places are terrific, in my estimation and also according to my wife, who is the noodle fanatic of the family.

Trust me...try these noodles and Tung Kee will be a fading memory of a bad dream (sorry Tung Kee fans, but you'll know it's true if you try these places).

I want to see reports, troops!!!

It may have been mentioned - but one of the greatest meals I have ever had was at a place on Senter Road in San Jose. I believe it's name is Doanh's. Pho? Don't actually know if they serve it but the lobster and frog legs were awesome. Paul
