Good Thai in the East Bay?

I usually go to a place recommended to me by some of my Thai students-- Sawooei, on San Pablo, just north of the intersection with Moeser.

Located, oddly enough, above the pink Budget Motel. Always busy, but never full. Food is rich, and not cheap--the bill usually runs about $10-15 per person in my experience.

They do serve durian on a bed of sticky rice and coconut milk for dessert, although the durian is frozen. But it is still durian. You could probably get them to substitute mango.

I was not at all impressed with Cha Am.
