Yeah. It's pretty good... I can't compare and contrast to every German restaurant in the South Bay, but we had an enjoyable meal, perhaps a bit on the "pretty" side. The name is Hardy's Bavaria.

There were two in Downtown San Jose:

Teske's Germania
255 N 1st St
(408) 292-0291

Teske's offers a great selection of German beers, both on tap and in the bottle, and their meals come with all the fixins, including dessert. They won't knock your culinary socks off, but you should be able to find the German dish you're looking for prepared competently.

Hochburg Von Germania (now Germania Verein Inc?)
261 N 2nd St
(408) 275-9308

I only went here a couple of times, and it was pretty good. A bit fancier than Teske's but with a much smaller menu. Unfortunately, a year or so ago the ajoining dance hall caught fire, and I don't think they've reopened. This phone number is for whatever is there now. Good luck.

We tried Hardy's Bavaria in the last year. Having spent a good deal of time in Ulm, Munich, and other parts of Germany, I was very unimpressed. Hardys food was essentially breaded and fried in lard. It wasn't even close to real Bavarian food.
