While it is not nirvana for most restaurant enthusiasts, one can find a fewgood places to eat in Fremont. For lunch, I've always enjoyed Habibi, located in the Safeway center at the intersection of Washington and Fremont Blvd. They are a nice small family run business serving good Lebanese style plates. I've always been fond of their sharwarma. Their kabob dishes are very good too. Periodically they offer specials that have never left me disappointed. Their Lebanese ice cream makes a wonderful desert. Their prices are good. Greg

Good Food in Fremont?
For the best Vietnamese - at least to me, try King's at FremontBlvd/Cushing Parkway, just off of the 880 freeway, next to McDonalds. Any chance I get I go there to eat a big bowl of #4. It's like 5 bucks and is satisfying and healthy. What a concept! Excellent noodle bowls, low prices, and generous servings. Lunches are most popular, and the place is usually swamped. But it is worth it. I've never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated. Next to it a Japanese Sushi Boat place, and a Korean BBQ. I have tried the Korean place. Food is good. Not grrrreeeat... but good:) On Sat, 31 Oct 1998 18:06:34 GMT, Greg humbly offered the following : Someone wrote: [-]> [-]>> I'll be moving to Fremont soon from San Jose and I'm looking for [-]>> recommendations of places to eat. This place is Hong Kong style. They have fish tanks for live fish, lobsters, crabs, ... Seasons buffet, Balentine, near New Park Mall, next to Carl Jr's. Chinese buffet with sushi. Better than most buffets, dinner has crab, oysters, and sometimes live prawns that are boiled. I like Sumo Sushi on Thorton east of Fremont for Japanese. Haven't been there in 2 years though. I use to like Kioku on Newark and Jarvis but they seem to have gone downhill lately. For more upscale dining: Pearl's Cafe on Bay Street off Grimmer. California style cooking, about the best you can get in Fremont. For Italian, I like O Fellini's in the New Park Mall area. It's in the 5-6 story building near the Mc Donald's. For dim sum, Furama on Warm Springs is pretty good although I haven't been there in a few years. You could also go to Mayflower in Milpitas too. The one at the Great Mall is easier to get into than the one at the Milpitas Square. For Northern Chinese hand-pulled noodles: Formosa at Cedar and Mowry and Uncle Yueh in the 99 Ranch mall at Paseo Padre and Fremont. You have to ask for it because it's only in the Chinese menus. For steaks, the only thing I could think of is Outback Steakhouse on Stevenson & 880 or the Cattlemen's on Newark and Jarvis. Both are average (son of a butcher). I had much better steak at Pearl's but they change their menu often and don't always have steak. Sorry, there's no knock your pants off restaurants in Fremont. Some have mentioned Oakland/Berkeley as the alternative, however IMHO, you'll need to go to the City (SF) for that. Hope that's a start for you. Stuart
