Having worked in Bodega Bay for the past 25 years, I can offer
some suggestions.
The premier restaurant in the area, at the moment, is the Duck
Club at the Bodega Lodge. Not inexpensive, but chef Jeff Reilly has it together, with an emphasis on local ingredients. Dinners only.
Second, but also quite good and much more reasonable in price, is
the Breakers Cafe, located in the Pelican Plaza mini-mall. Great view and quite good food, especially local seafood. House salad also very good, and soups can be excellent.
the Tides is in the process of a major remodel. Customers will be
assisting with the financing of the work. You will now be paying around $9 for a bowl of OK clam chowder. Bread is extra, if you get my drift. All that said, I did recently have a good mahi plate there, with a soy-wasabi sauce. A friend was treating, is why we went there; it's an old favorite of his.
Lucas Wharf, just south of the Tides, is similar in price and
quality.
Inn at the Tides, across the street from the Tides, recently
changed chefs and I haven't been there lately, so won't comment on that.
Another good place nearby is the Bohemian Cafe in Occidental.
Best curries I've had outside a Thai place; reasonable, nice atmosphere. All I've had here is good, except for the pizza crust (see below).
Union Hotel, also in Occidental, has forgettable food, but
excellent pizza in the separate pizza parlor.
