Elbe or Empire Tap Room: Happy Hour?

Thanks to all who responded!

We did the happy hour thing at Q Billiards then walked to Elbe for dinner. Unfortunately after all the beer and some nachos at Q, we weren't terribly hungry.

We split the venison ragout in puff pastry appetizer, and then the stuffed chicken (sorry, can't remember the foot-long German names), and struedel with ice cream for the obligatory birthday song. We ended up bringing most of the meal home.

The food was good, but I have to rave about the service. Many servers would've sniffed at us ordering that less than two full entrees, and then ignored us after the entree was brought.

Our waiter Thomas was wonderful. We never had to wait for him or flag him down for anything and he was wonderfully helpful throughout the meal. He earned a major tip from me and a hearty recommendation for Elbe (117 University, Palo Alto).
