Scott's is right across the street from the Tech, and parking is validated. Food is good, labelled "friendliest restaurant in San Jose" by the Metro. Also within walking distance is The Grill at the Fairmont (maybe a little Pricey), A.P. Stumps on Santa Clara, again, a little pricey, and the entire line-up of San Pedro Square, all of which are probably in your price range.

Most are decent, but I prefer Huong Truc at 7th and Santa Clara. Then its off the Tully and King to stock up on groceries from the many stores up there. Neither of these intersections are considered 5-star neighborhoods, by any means. Lower rent makes for better food and prices, IMHO. -sw
