Not Clement, California Avenue (S.F.), a mere 1 1/2 blocks from my home. Mandalay is one of two Burmese restaurants in the neighborhood, and has an appetizer that uses tea leaves for seasoning. Strange and tasty.

As for great soups, Laghi on Clement Street at around 19th Ave. has a really nice, beany kind of minestrone. Perfect for this winter weather.

Mescolanza, a few blocks down from Laghi, also has a good minestrone.
