I don't know that it's a "must" restaurant, but Fountain Court is one of the only Shanghai restaurants in SF, and I think it is pretty good. So, I'd recommend it especially because it is unique. Though make sure to order the Shanghaiese dishes, especially the dumplings, Xiao Long Baozi.

Fountain Court is very good, and the slightly higher price reflects it.

My "must" restaurant on Clement Street is the Taiwan Restaurant. Food there is excellent. You can get Taiwanese breakfast as well, which is not common in SF. Prices are ridiculously low. This restaurant has been there for over ten years and still draws huge crowds.

Le Soleil has excellent Viet Namese food.

There's a very special Japanese restaurant on Sixth Avenue between Clement and Geary. It's run by a Japanese family, including the kids, and is open for very short hours several days each week.

I hang around this upper section of Clement, between Arguello and 12th Avenue. There are loads of other restaurants on the other side of Park Presidio.

I agree. This is a great spot. They have wonderful dumplings.

If you want a memorable lunch, go to Taiwan. Watch them make dumplings in the window as you wait for a table.
