If you only have time for 1 meal in LA, and budget is not a concern, I would go to one of Joachim Splichal's restaurants. Patina in Hollywood is his signature room, and the most expensive of his empire. Food and furnishings are fabulous! Pinot Bistro in Studio City is our favorite of his offerings. Many memorable meals! Pinot Hollywood is good, but we've liked the Martini Bar and menu better than the main room. If you are not on an expense account and want some marvelous food and service for relatively cheap, go to Brent's Deli in Northridge (San Fernando Valley). They kick butt on every deli in LA. _Everything_ is good except the potato skins. The black pastrami reuben is to die for! Somewhere in between, and a more indigenous offering, is La Serenata Gourmet on Pico in the Westwood area. Upscale and unique Mexican specializing in seafood. Their sauces are awesome! If you will choose from these you will have a memorable meal! LS Lee Sebel / Gearho Productions Keyboardist, synthesist, clinican and composer I make music the old-fashioned way...I PLAY IT!
