My vote goes to HOLEY BAGEL on Masonic near Haight! They possess a marvelous denseness, almost a crunchiness, and the flavors are memorable. They make their own schmears which are delightful as well. The only drawback, for ME anyway, are the scores of drunks and homeless people that litter the Haight area.
