NNTP-Posting-User: dpc47852 Well, the best bagels I've had are made by a 3rd generation bagel-maker in San Jose, California. His store is called Broadway Bagels and it is located at the corner of Branham and Dent in South San Jose. For a long while, the proprietor, Stuart Stone, owned the whole House of Bagels "chain" in the South Bay, but he sold it when it got too large and he moved to Lahaina, Hawaii to try selling pizza (I think that's what he tried selling there, although it might have been bagels, but I think it was something different like pizza). Anyhow, he came back the the San Jose area to open Broadway Bagels about 6 years ago, and they really are excellent bagels. His store also does deliveries, and (I just happen to have his business card in front of me) the phone number is (408)-978-2245. I know, it's probably difficult for a lot of you to believe that there are actually good bagels west of the New York City area, but believe me, these are great. Of course, if you want to go cheap, mass quantity, wholesale, then there is always the Kraft/Lender's Bagel Factory in Mattoon, IL (who would've thought South Central Illinois to have a bagel factory)... And they're free one day out of the year during the Mattoon "Bagel Festival" (or whatever they call it). Anyhow, if you are in the South Bay, try Broadway. :-Dan
