Here is an excellent Afghani restaurant. They make the best lamb dishes I've ever had. Afghani House 1103 E. El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA (just west of Lawrence Expressway, next to Fish Market) (408) 248-5088 I have no financial interest in this place--I just love good food, and I want to do everything I can to ensure that these guys stay in business. They used to run a place in San Francisco called Kabul West, which got a rave review in the Examiner/Chronicle. They closed due to parking problems and reopened in the South Bay, where they got a rave review from the Mercury News. They are cousins of the folks who run the Kabul chain in Sunnyvale and San Carlos, but I think the food is much better at Afghani House. They've built up a good lunch crowd via word of mouth, but they still need more business at dinner. Service is impeccable, ambience is elegant, place is quiet and attractive, and the food is incredible. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
