Miss it a lot........ The view from Il Fornaio is nice, but not significantly better than a half-dozen other San Diego restaurants. There are two restaurants in the same complex that have the same view and much better food: Pacifica Del Mar and Chez Henri. Perhaps you were lucky when you went to Il Fornaio, but I've had consistently mediocre food and poor service when I've been there. Il Fornaio's Enoteca (self-serve wine bar) is pretty darn good for sandwiches and Il Fornaio's take-out bread (and other pastries as well) are also very good. But, the restaurant has never impressed me. Other San Diego restaurants that have spectacular views and exceptional food are: George's at the Cove, The Sky Room at La Valencia, The Marine Room (but they've been through multiple executive chefs recently so I'm not sure how good the food is). Peohe's in Coronado has a spectacular view of downtown. There are tons of mediocre restaurants that have spectacular views (and I include Il Fornaio in that category). In fact, the common rule in San Diego is that food quality is inversely proportional to the view. Mike
