My wife and I were last in Brugge about two years ago and we had one of the best meals of our lives at Ambrosius (Arsenaalstraat 53-55 Tel: 050/34.41.57 Fax: 050/34.41.57). It is located at the edge of Minnewater Park. Not cheap, the meal cost over $200 including wines.

I have eaten at two Michelin *** restaurants in my life (Comme Chez Soi in Brussels and Crocodile in Strasbourg) and I thought that the total experience at Ambrosius was better.

Friends who were in Brugge a couple of weeks ago reported a very good dinner at Taverne Curiosa (sp?). But I can't speak from personal experience.

A place I have wanted to eat at is Le Brueghel, along the canal on the way up to Damme. It was undergoing renovations last time we were in the area.

If you like Belgian beer, one of the best beer bars in the entire world is in Brugge. It is called 't Brugs Beertje (5 Kemelstraat, near Simon Stevin Plein, 050/33.96.16). For more info on this bar, see the Bruges beer heading at http://www.tiac.net/users/tjd/bier/belgmast.html.

Have a great time!
