I'm a big fan of pork bbq in South Carolina. I'm often on the road in this state, and am always interested in finding new (to me) bbq restaurants. Anyone have any suggestions? My favorites are: McCabes in Manning, SC (vinegar and pepper based sauce) Dukes in Orangeburg, SC (ketchup based sauce) --great fried chicken, too. Big T's in Columbia and Gadsden, SC (mustard/vinegar-pepper/tomato base)

No, I haven't found any (yet) in that area. Probably because I'm thinkin' sea food when I'm in Beaufort. That part of the state is considered to be in the ketchup-based sauce region, which I'm not crazed for. Not that bbq people go by lines arbitrarily drawn on a map, however. The Charleston area is in the mustard-based sauce region. You might just have to head into the interior, which is interesting in itself. BTW, The Bank, a restaurant on the main street on the waterfront in Beaufort, serves something they call Buffalo Shrimp. If you like spicy food, give it a try. I dream about them sometimes.
