Hey gang, I just got back from a roadtrip to St.Simon's Island, GA and while there stopped at Mack's Bar-be-cue Place on Hwy 17 in Brunswick, GA ( about 3 miles off I-95 ) It wasn't as good as King's BBQ in Petersburg, VA or Cowlings BBQ in Waverly, VA or Pete Jones Skylight Inn in Ayden, NC ....but it was mighty damn close!!!!! ( and better than any bbq I've ever had around Lexington, NC ) Kudos to Mack's - this is the real deal. Cord upon cord of fresh split hickory out back, woodsmoke hits ya a halfmile from the joint. The meat was really good with great smoke flavor. Mack's sauce ( IMHO ) while not stellar is pretty good. I certainly am not complaining - but if he could get his sauce on par with his meat he'd be a serious serious Smokatola! lemme tellya whot! Great sweet tea and battered fries too. They also have jars of pure honey with honeycomb that is great for sale at the counter to go. It's on Hwy 17 right by where you turn to go to St.Simon's Island. It's only 3 minutes off interstate I-95 too. Hope you road dog cue hounds check it out sometime! Cap'n Ron @ CafeMojo
