The new Schlotsky's Deli opened in early January and burned in February. They have announced that they will re-open at 11:00 AM, May 29th. Used to there wuz a meat-market on the main steet in Bastrop that also sold barbecue. It is no longer a meat market. It is now a full time barbecue place. It closes rather early - like 7PM I think. (Kitchen closes at 6:30PM). I've been there twice recently. The first time I had a plate that they call "The Whole Hawg". It is barbecue ribs. They were tender and delicious. I finished the plate and became delightfully overstuffed. The nex time, I had the sausage/brisket mixed plate. Again, the portion was generous but I put it all away, (I weigh in at 220 and can put away a pretty good meal.) I think the Whole Hawg plate was about $7 or $8, The sausage/Brisket plate was $6 or $7. Its a pretty fancy place - - - - - for Bastrop.
