I took a road trip to Alabama this week. Went by Herbert's BBQ, and Whitts but stopped at Big Bob Gibson's in Decatur Alabama.

The beef was nothing, simply tasted like steam beef, the pulled pork was so, so, done better myself. I wouldn't recommend dropping everything and hitting the road to get some. It was nice to be able to compare what I do to so called Wonders of Q. made me feel good that my Q is getting up there.

Also, swung by Plainfield, Il to Baby Back Blues dinner, brisket good as usual, pork was bland (they cook it indiect), chickn was tasty but me thinks they doctor with chicken broth perhaps. They use an indirect method but they use real wood and coal.

Got to go turn the rib tips on the gill, back to cold and snow here in Illinois.

I have eaten at big bob's one time. The BBQ here in north alabama was not what I expected. That is why I do not waste my time at them. Although I did eat a Uncle Sam's BBQ in Birmingham and it was the best bbq beans I have ever had and now that is what I make for bbq events.

Here are 2 more "beefs" I have with this north alabama crap. There is an alleged bbq place here in I-565, which will remain nameless for now, in which they have the term "BBQ" in thier name but they do not serve ribs. I am not pleased every time I go there. The second item is the poor excuse of coleslaw they have here. It's just chopped up cabbage with vinegar. Makes me wanna puke. Just go get it from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

OK, back to work
