In my opinion, the two best BBQ joints in town are either Old South Barbecue (Spring Road near South Cobb Drive in Smyrna -- i.e., the northwest suburbs) or Dusty's BBQ (Briarcliff Road at Clifton, near the Emory University campus -- not far from downtown).

Not much of an affcionado of soul food....sorry..... :-)

_Real Barbecue_ by Greg Johnson and Vince Staten recommends four Atlanta joints, two with the highest rating possible.

Melear's & the Ace Taxi and Bar-B-Que Barn were rated "real good."

Harold's & Aleck's Barbecue Heaven were rated "As good as we've ever had."
