Flagstaff, Grand Canyon area restaurants

The BEST food at the Grand Canyon is in the canteen at Phantom Ranch (at the bottom of the canyon). Of course, the beef stew might taste a little better, because you have hiked 7-10 miles to get there. (You need reservations)

In all seriousness, there's not a lot at the Grand Canyon. El Tovar (very expensive) requires reservations far in advance (602-638-2631). I've also eaten at the Bright Angel Lodge - kind of a family place. The food is fine.

Outside the Park, I've eaten at the most expensive McDonald's in the free world. They have a handout explaining why they are so expensive. I have also eaten at the Grand Canyon Squire Inn which was pretty good.

In Flagstaff, you'll find most of the chains (fast food, Sizzler, etc.). I've eaten at Buster's (1800 S. Milton Rd), and I thought that it was fine. You'll find most of the Flagstaff restaurants on S. Milton Rd.

Hope this helps,
Susan

If you like Mexican, the Hotel Dining Room in the park operated Hotel away from the rim in the main area of the park is great. The Chille Riellos (sp?)are superb as well as the other dishes. (not for the meek) It is real Mexican food, not the crap that passes for Mexican in the East.

Didn't eat in Flagtown, but good Mexican can be had in Albuquerque, NM too!
