The Best BBQ I Ever Ate Was...

The best bbq I've ever had is Abe's BBQ, in my childhood hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Its sort of like Memphis style but isn't. Abe's was written up in "Real Barbecue", so I'm not the only one who likes it. I usually get the pork bbqs, although their chile cheese hamburgers are really good too. (And the tamales are to die for!). Abe's is located at the corner of US 49 and US 61 in Clarksdale, back behind the doughnut shop. They were putting in a second location in Oxford, Mississippi, when I left Ole Miss back in 1987. Don't know if its still there or not, though.

P.S. But right there at the top of the list are:
Old Clinton BBQ in Clinton, GA and Fresh Air BBQ in Macon and Jackson, GA, and Dusty's BBQ in Atlanta (the latter being NC style). Oh yes, and Ollie's in Birmingham, Alabama--although its their sauce I love the best. I buy bottles of it and use it for sauteeing pork chops here at home.
