Billy Bob and Listers:

Two places come to mind for BBQ in the Azalea City.

First is Dreamland.

Big Daddy John Bishop let loose of some franchises years back, and the third Dreamland popped up in Mobile. The quality is a bit inconsistent, but the ribs are tangy and the service is good. (And they've introduced chicken--not available at the original site in Tuscaloosa)

A slab will do you in for about $15. Take the Springhill Avenue Exit off I-65, curve back on the service road and look for the Big Sign in the sky.

The second place is called Saucy Q. Have not been there, but am hearing good things about it It's located about a mile from downtown on Government Street (Hwy 90).

Take the Government Street exit off of I-65, head east towards downtown. When the old oaks form a canopy over the roadway look to the left for a renovated Steak and Egg kitchen and you're there.
