What sets this print apart is its subject: the interior of a clothing warehouse operated under the name Devlin & Co. The record carries no date, though the shelflist card names a Ratellier, and the image was later shown in the exhibition *A Perfect Fit: The Garment Industry and American Jewry*. New York's garment trade expanded rapidly in the late 1800s and early 1900s, employing many immigrant workers, including many Jewish families, in warehouses and workshops where ready-made clothing was stored, cut, and shipped.
