The only identifying detail here is the name "D. McDonald," and the Library of Congress lists even that as unverified, drawn from caption cards and data supplied by the Bain News Service. The image survives as a glass negative of five by seven inches or smaller, part of the George Grantham Bain Collection. Bain's agency distributed news photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s, so plates like this were usually made for fast publication rather than as lasting studio portraits. Without a date or place, the sitter's identity and the occasion behind the picture cannot be confirmed from the record alone.
