The surviving title, "Miss Marg T.," is cut short, and the caption that once accompanied this glass negative has rubbed away, so the subject is only partly identified. The negative belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, the work of a commercial studio operating in Washington, D.C., in the early twentieth century. Its date of about 1923 is inferred from neighboring negatives in the same range, and Herbert A. French gave it to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers should note the streaks and blemishes on the plate, which come from the natural deterioration of its original coating rather than from the scene itself.
