This glass negative, dated April 17, 1922, falls on the Monday after Easter that year, and its title places children at the holiday. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C. studio that worked for decades, made many portraits and event pictures like this one, and its glass plates preserve fine detail. The record notes that the title comes from unverified studio data and that streaks and blemishes from the aging of the original coating are visible. Those marks are part of the negative's physical history and show how such plates change over a century.
