Published by Currier & Ives in New York around 1876, this lithograph bears the simple title *Merry Christmas* and belongs to the firm's long series of holiday prints. Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives produced inexpensive colored lithographs that reached households across the country, and by the 1870s their seasonal scenes had become a familiar part of American Christmas.
