The only identifying detail for this glass negative is the name K.O. Sweeney, and the Library of Congress notes that it comes from the Bain News Service's own caption cards and has not been independently verified. The agency, founded by George Grantham Bain in New York, sold news photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s through the 1920s, so its negatives record a wide range of people and events from that period. This plate is undated, so its occasion is unknown, but it belongs to a large body of glass negatives that document American public life in the early twentieth century.
