A Schrafft's truck linked to the Semmes Motor Co. is the subject of this 1926 glass negative from the National Photo Company. Schrafft's was a candy and confectionery firm founded in Boston in the 1860s, and by the 1920s its shops and sweets were familiar across the Northeast, so a branded delivery truck was a common sight on city streets. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C. commercial studio, produced many street and commercial views in the early twentieth century. The glass shows streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of its original coatings, which are worth noticing when reading the image.
