The caption on this 1912 glass negative reads "Kilhullen, Phila," and the record notes that the name came from unverified Bain News Service data. A baseball history committee has suggested it may show Pat Kilhullen, a player associated with Philadelphia's American League club, though that link is not confirmed. The Bain agency supplied photographs of sports figures and news events to New York newspapers in the early 1900s, and its small glass plates were a standard tool of press photography at the time. Those plates, often labeled in haste, now make up a large part of the Library of Congress holdings.
