This color poster advertises *Happy Birthday to Me*, a 1981 horror film starring Melissa Sue Anderson, who was widely known to television audiences as Mary Ingalls on *Little House on the Prairie*. The movie was a slasher picture set at an elite private school, and its marketing leaned on the contrast between Anderson's wholesome television image and the story's violence. Posters of this kind, produced for early 1980s thrillers, were designed to catch the eye in theater lobbies and on city streets, so the choice of title and artwork tells you as much about how the studio hoped to sell the film as about the film itself.
