Pumpkins and vegetables are the stars of this one, rather than witches or black cats, which makes it a useful window onto early twentieth-century Halloween. Postcards like this were mass-produced in the decades around 1900 to 1915, when the holiday was still shifting from harvest-season festivity toward the candy-and-costume custom it became later.
