The only identifying detail here is a name, Geo. I. Scott, taken from a caption card that the Bain News Service wrote for this glass negative. The Library of Congress notes that the name is unverified, so it should be read as a label rather than a confirmed identity. Bain News Service was a New York photo agency founded by George Grantham Bain around 1899 that supplied newspapers with images of news events, public figures and everyday scenes, which places this plate within the working press of the early twentieth century. With no date or subject description recorded, the negative is best understood as one small piece of that commercial archive, made on a glass plate of 5 by 7 inches or smaller.
